LaMONTE McLEMORE’S DEBUT BOOK- SIGNING
Las Vegas (1/24/15) — LaMonte McLemore, the dapper founder and original mellow bass of multi-Grammy winning legends, The 5th Dimension debuts his long-awaited memoir, From Hobo Flats to The 5th Dimension: A Life Fulfilled in Baseball, Photography, and Music on Valentine’s Day, Sat. February 14 in Las Vegas, at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. Mr. McLemore shares, “We decided on this special date to launch our first book signing as a love note to the fans…we call it the dawning of the ‘A Love Like Ours’ tour!” As well, the book becomes available for Internet purchase on that date, world-wide, including on Amazon. LaMonte and his biographer, Robert-Allan Arno, will co-host the 2 hour book- signing event at the Orleans, which occurs in Salon “H” starting at 4 pm, with a “live” interview show format between the star and his as-told-to author. “Mac” will also be reading from the book and taking audience Q and A’s, before the formal book-signing with photo-ops.
Another heartwarming aspect of the event will be the special guest appearance of Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr.. According to Arno, “It was LaMonte who literally introduced Marilyn and Billy back in the day, at ‘Hobo Flats.’ Now celebrating 45 years of marriage and sounding better than ever, the original stars and former lead singers of The 5th Dimension remain dear friends of LaMonte.” LaMonte adds, “It will be perfect to have Marilyn and Billy join us for a while, since they’re appearing in concert at the Orleans later that evening!” McCoo and Davis bring their “Up-Up and Away–the Music and Memories” to the Orleans showroom at 8 pm on Valentine’s night (and also at 8 pm on Feb. 15).
McLemore’s memoir is equal parts historical, humorous and inspiring. Arno states, “Mac goes deep not only into his life’s trailblazing achievements, but into the music of The 5th Dimension. We go album by album; fans will be entranced with his very unique take on the quintet’s recorded gems, like ‘Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,’ ‘Stoned Soul Picnic’ and lots of rarities. ” McLemore’s lovely wife, Mieko enthuses, “The book encompasses everything my husband has been wanting to share with the public for years; objectively, his ‘voice’ is thrilling!” Published under The Soul of the Voice, Ltd. imprint, the 12 chapter journey includes a 50 photo centerfold, comprehensive discography and even a secret recipe! A member of The 5th Dimension for over 40 years, LaMonte McLemore is also renowned as the photographer of “The Beauty of the Week” for JET magazine for over 5 decades. He was also a member of the Dodger’s farm system. The memoir is peppered with countless celebrity anecdotes–from Frank Sinatra to Diana Ross, from Ray Charles to Pharrell Williams. The book is recommended by Johnny Mathis, Nancy Sinatra and Neil Sedaka, and is dedicated to Mr. McLemore’s prophetic “Grandma,” and his cherished mother, June, who is currently celebrating her centennial birthday.
The LaMonte McLemore book signing at the Orleans Casino on Feb. 14, 2015, between 4 and 6 pm in Salon “H” is open to the public, with accommodations for 100 attendees via theater-style seating. Fans are encouraged to book their travel and lodging plans, promptly for this popular Valentine’s date.
